So... I do know I suck at this blogging thing but since my mind is on the subject of my lack of blogging I will let you all know, Hailey put me up to this. The other night as I was leaving work I checked my voicemail and heard a message from her telling me she hadn't heard from me in ages and that I hadn't updated my blog in a long time so she needed me to update her. I just checked my messages again tonight and realized I hadn't called her back... yes I'm quite forgetful as of lately. My mind is elsewhere, it's preoccupied with thinking I've forgotten to do something at work, or chart on a patient, or pass a message along to the oncoming shift. I'm hoping I will soon feel more like Heather and less consumed by the thoughts of work. Don't get me wrong I love my job, it's pretty much the greatest job ever! For those of you who don't know I work at the University of Utah Hospital on the labor and delivery unit. It rocks! The unit deals with a lot of high risk pregnancies. Not a day goes by where I don't learn something new. The women I work with are great, they're all willing to teach me and answer my questions or help me do my assessment if I feel like I need a second opinion. Aside from the male doctors our unit is the only all female staffed (nurses) unit in the hospital. Kinda crazy huh!? It's not that we don't hire men, it's just that they don't apply. Labor and delivery seems to have some of the old fashioned "women are nurses and men are doctors" vibe to it, although more women are leaning towards obgyn practice than men these days. I have seen some of the most amazing miracles happen at work, I have seen some sad situations as well but the good outweighs the bad and I really love where I work. I started in the beginning of June and am still orienting, which I am very grateful for because I still have so much to learn! I don't know if I have much else to say, I'm tired. My brain literally just shut off just now. I cannot think of anything else to say except that I am happy I am busy and my life is great. I am sorry for being a space cadet these past few years school and now work seem to take my brain to its limit. Oh and Hailey I was going to call you back tonight when I listened to your message but I looked at the clock and hoped you were getting some sleep. You've got to beautiful baby girls keeping you busy and awake and I sure didn't want to wake you up if you were sleeping. I hope you all are doing well and I really think we girls need to get together. We say we're going to do it but we never do. I am a slacker at the whole planning thing so maybe this will motivate someone to plan a day to get dinner or lunch and catch up because I miss you guys and I really want to hear about your lives and what not.
Oh yeah, I passed my NCLEX (state nursing boards) so I am a legit nurse which is pretty exciting. I found out on the 4th of July and was pretty much ecstatic.
Oh and one last thing, thanks to everyone for your congratulations on my graduating! You all are amazing :)
